Sellsword in his cups

I like the big hand and cup but that other arm's shape is all off. Too beat to fix. Also, tablet wonky today. Hope it heals itself soon.

I love my tablet.

My Favorite Mutants part 11: Fantomex and E.V.A.

Grant Morrison created him during his run on the X-Men. He's visually based on a 60s Italian comic: Diabolik, that is itself based on a turn of the century French Gothic pulp villain called Fantomas. His name is Charlie-Cluster 7. Also designated Weapon XIII. Wolverine is Weapon X. Captain America is Weapon I. And so on. His history and abilities are somewhat crazy. Even summing it up would take too long. Just Google. Suffice it to say, right now, he's my favorite mutant. I like the crazy stuff. And so much about this guy is mad. Wonderfully mad.

That thing behind him. That's his external nervous system/ flying saucer. But don't worry. He has a back up nervous system. And three brains. And a fake French accent because he was raised in a sort of French Matrix that had a bug in it's operating system. Mad.

That's it for favorite mutants. On to other stuffs.

My Favorite Mutants part 10: Kitty Pryde & Lockheed

I grew up with Kitty Pryde. I loved the Alan Davis Excalibur that featured Kitty, Nightcrawler, and Rachel Summers (sensing a pattern?). An early song from one of my favorite bands mentions Kitty Pryde (and Nightcrawler too). I also love the way Lockheed's been used recently. They're more friends than master and pet. Plus, he gets drunk. What's better than a little drunken dragon?

This was a quicky done right after work and before the wife called to be picked up. Was feeling bad about not keeping the blog fed recently. One more Favorite Mutant and then on to something else.

Rough layouts of a new project

These are rough pencils done on the Wacom (I do nearly everything on the Wacom nowadays). I'm working on an eight pager that's the first chapter of an ongoing comic (or web comic) I'm developing. Roughs, for me, is where I decide on the panel layout and position the figures and backgrounds where I like. After the roughs I make a new layer that'll be the pencils proper. Details and shading. After that an additional layer for the inks. After that I'll add text and maybe some effects if it's warranted.
Here's page 1 followed by page 5.

I was getting complaints for not posting anything recently but I was working on this (and another short that I'll do after these eight pages are done).

There are still two more Favorite Mutants on the way though. My top two as it were.

My Favorite Mutants part 9: Wolverine part 2

What's worse than fighting Wolverine? Fighting a naked Wolverine. Here's another Wolverine as I've grown to dislike the last posting:
And yes, I know there are two bones in the forearm. I just couldn't be arsed.

Trying to do drawings with less but better line work. I tend to overcompensate with more lines to hide my failings. Of course then I had to draw all the hair on his body which would seem to defeat the purpose. Oh well.

My Favorite Mutants part 9: Wolverine

I'm back. Haven't drawn anything in a week so this is a bit rough:
Already starting to dislike it. Need to work on my smoke. Like the ninja head though.
C'mon. Everyone likes Wolverine!
