I've been reading and re-reading Watership Down since I was seven. This is when Bigwig (with his odd tuft of hair on the back of his head) first meets Blackavar. Blackavar, a favorite of mine (he went after Woundwort!), is being displayed as a warning to the other rabbits of what happens when you try to escape Efrafa. He has two guards and is seriously effed up.
